Rasheed Wallace Metatarsal Injury

The reason that Rasheed Wallace may need foot surgery is that a usual place of fracture of the fifth metatarsal following an ankle twist (inversion) is at the base-which is difficult to heal due to the pull of the peroneous longus tendon & decreased blood supply as opposed to other areas of bone. The surgery will involve internal fixation screw(s) and a possible plate. If the surgery goes well & he is a good patient-look for healing at @ 6 weeks.

Good Luck Rasheed!
