Foot Spurs with Ulcers

Q: I’ve had a successful flat foot reconstruction surgery 4 years ago.  I now have a spur on top of my foot in the area of the cotton osteotomy screw. The screw is not elevated. I am developing ulcers on the skin due to the raised area rubbing.  I wear quality supportive and we’ll fitting shoes. Spur removal was recommended. What are the pros and cons of this surgery?

A: This Orthopedic Chicago Podiatrist located in West Loop 60661, Roscoe Village 60618, Ukranian Village 60622, Elmhurst 60126 & Bartlett 60103 says…
For your dorsal foot spur-Pros are that it is easily reached & the screw may also be removed if necessary. Also you are doing this to heal a wound. Cons are that it is a surgery & there are always risks(usually low-depending on your health). The dorsal foot spur may come back. The wound may heal with different shoes
Hope this helps & Good Luck!
